August wrap up

Week of Aug 20 - 31 The last 2 weeks of August we spent getting back into the groove of school.  First was me & Shaun attempting to make English Muffins at home.  He has been asking for them quite a bit since they got back from NY and I haven't been able to find any so I decided how hard could it be to make them at home? I mean I do make bread rolls and bake cakes so it shouldn't be too hard you would think but I was wrong.  I thought it would be fun to make them together but Shaun wasn't very interested after about 30min in the kitchen so I ended up doing the baking experiment myself.  The recipe that I found looked pretty easy but my mistake was trying to modify it before I ever tried to make it as directed.  The most important ingredient was bread flour, apparently, and I didn't have any so I just used all purpose flour.  Also, I was suppose to boil the milk then cool the milk then add the yeast but that took about 3 tries before I got it right....

August 13-19 The first week back to school  and the start of the first full year in school in Singapore!!!  We have only been in Singapore around 7 months but the time has seemed to go by so much quicker.  Things are just a lot more busy here and it is hard to say if it is just the culture or the age of the boys.  Either way we are excited to have the boys back in school.  While they were not to eager to give up their ipads it had to be done.  Before breakfast Mike & I decided that we would take the boys to school in the taxi so that we can see them in their classes for the first day.  They were not happy about this decision and we had to do a lot of talking to finally get them to agree to it.  I told them that they will ride on the bus every morning to school after today so what is the problem with giving mommy and daddy one day to see them off into their classes.  Shaun gave in easy but Lino held out until the taxi arrived...that ...

June 18 - July 8 My first flight from Singapore to the states alone with the boys.  This is a long haul for sure...and to get to Kansas makes it even longer because it takes 3 flights to get there.  If we were flying to New York or even to Dallas it would be about 3-5hrs shorter.  We actually met up with one of my Chinese moms at the airport but she was so lost an flustered because this was her first time flying with her son alone that we didn't have a lot of time to chat.  Her poor husband ended up talking to me on the phone to tell me that he was worried that she was going to miss her flight so I rushed her to her terminal.  We flew on Japan Airlines and I must say I was quite impressed with their little dinner/lunch meals.  It wasn't overly tasty but it was well presented.  They are apart of One World so the planes are the same as AA but the service is like you are in Japan.  The boys were up for the first flight and then got to play in the pl...
